To make these individual monoprints, metal type was handset, letterpress printed, then drawn over with brush and watercolor ink so each piece is unique. The metal type is called OCR-A, the first typeface cast by American TypeFounders Company in 1968 for machine optical character recognition. All six monoprints form a suite that shows a mountain range undergoing transformations, an intertwining of nature and man-made elements. The "No." in the title refers both to the North Cascade Mountains and the numbers in the typeface.
